Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has consistently maintained a cordial relationship with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Both leaders appear keen on using this rapport for the larger benefit of the twin Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
In this backdrop, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made an appeal to his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Chandrababu Naidu regarding the long standing issue of Krishna river water distribution.
Revanth Reddy urged the Andhra Pradesh government not to create obstacles to projects that were approved during the undivided state on the Krishna River. He also sought cooperation to arrive at a permanent solution to water disputes, stressing that such an approach would serve the broader interests of both states.
Stating that the government is prioritising the welfare of people and farmers over political considerations, Revanth Reddy underlined the importance of mutual cooperation. As a landlocked state without direct port access, Telangana has requested permissions for a twelve lane greenfield expressway, railway connectivity and linkage to Machilipatnam Port, all of which require the support of neighbouring states.
The most notable part of Revanth Reddy’s appeal came when he said that Telangana’s cooperation would be equally crucial for the development of Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh. He added that issues between the two states can be resolved only through reciprocal cooperation. The Chief Minister’s willingness to extend support for Amaravati stands out as a significant and noteworthy gesture.
