Memu Chesindi Kuda Cheppukoledu: YCP’s New Tactic!

The YSR Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh has been trying different narratives in recent times. Earlier, it was the repeated commentary on EVMs, followed by the “Rappa Rappa” statements from party president Jagan, where he openly threatened NDA leaders and even government officials.

Now, it appears that YCP has adopted a new narrative, focusing mainly on its previous term in power between 2019 and 2024.

YSR Congress former MLA from the Dharmavaram constituency, Kethi Reddy, recently stated that the party failed to properly publicise its achievements during its five years in power.

The former MLA claimed that the party and its president, Jagan, implemented several welfare schemes during 2019–24 but failed to take these achievements to the public. Surprisingly, he even claimed credit for the Adani Google data center in Vizag and also staked a claim on the Bhogapuram airport project.

However, several intellectuals and subject experts point out that the previous YSR Congress government was known for policy reversals and actions that discouraged companies from investing in Andhra Pradesh. Despite this, the party is now attempting to take credit for projects associated with the present central government, while simultaneously saying that it failed to publicise its own good work.

The previous Jagan government was repeatedly criticised for excessive borrowing and policies that allegedly drove away major companies such as Lulu, Jockey, Amara Raja, Franklin Templeton, and others. Now, the same YSR Congress is claiming that it could not highlight its achievements, which many find surprising.

A neutral observer who has closely followed Andhra Pradesh politics for several years remarked that this sudden shift in narrative raises many questions.
