The Greater Hyderabad has reported 45.71 percent of polling in its municipal elections held on Tuesday. When compared to the 2016 elections, the polling percentage increased merely by just 0.44 percent which is disappointing. Until 5 PM, the polling percentage was 36.73 percent and people who stood in the queue were allowed to vote even after the polling time ended.
However, the Old Malakpet division will go for re-polling tomorrow and so the overall polling percentage could touch 46 percent. Old Malakpet division has reported errors in symbols of the ballet paper and so the Election Commission has called for a re-polling.
Langer House, RK Puram, Dabirpura, Rain Bazar, Chandrayangutta, Jahanuma, Mallepalli, Nalanagar, Goshamahal, Mangalhat, Kondapur, Old Bowenpalli and Monda Market divisions reported low polling percentage.
Meanwhile the mainstream media slammed Hyderabadis for not actively taking part in the electoral process. The social media was abuzz with memes on Hyderabadis for being lazy and not giving much importance to vote.
