The biggest and possibly the most inevitable statement has officially come out from YS Jagan. He has publicly announced yesterday that he would be starting his Pada Yatra ahead of the 2029 election.
It was communicated in principal by Jagan that he would be starting this Yatra in another one and half year and added that it would be going on for a year and half leading into the 2029 election. He categorically stated that the NDA government has just three years left in their regime and must be held responsible.
It was always expected that Jagan would resort to this yatra ahead of the election, and he expectedly made this communication today. But there is a cause of concern here.
Earlier, Jagan had stated multiple times that he would be going on district tour across Andhra Pradesh. He started this narrative by the end of 2024 itself and repeated it multiple times. But in the end, Jagan did not materialise this district tour at any capacity as he stayed back at the comfort of his Bengaluru House.
But now Jagan has made the biggest announcement from YCP in the form of the scheduling of the upcoming Pada Yatra. And if Jagan misses this timeline again, like how he did for district tours, the Yatra would lose its steam, and it would be a tough going for YCP from there.
On one hand, Jagan must stick to his scheduling of the Pada Yatra, and all the other hand, he must convince the people of Andhra Pradesh that he’s a changed man.
One point is that Jagan had a historic Praja Sankalpa yatra before 2019, and got closer to the public, but completely distanced them after becoming the CM. Jagan will have to convince the same public that he has changed and will mend his ways after this Yatra, ahead of 2029.
Considering the kind of importance that this Jagan Pada Yatra has for the YCP ecosystem, there’s absolutely no room for error and political analysts are saying that Jagan simply can’t step back this time, like how he did earlier with district tours.
