According to preliminary information, the tragic aircraft crash near Baramati was not caused by a single failure. Instead, it appears to be the result of multiple risk factors coming together at the same time. Weather conditions, runway limitations, and operational challenges formed a fatal accident chain.
What Went Wrong: Key Points
Dense fog covered the Pune–Baramati region, reducing visibility to extremely low levels.
The Baramati airstrip does not have an Instrument Landing System (ILS).
Due to the absence of ILS, the pilot had to rely entirely on manual and visual landing.
The first landing attempt was aborted, with the aircraft taking a wide corrective turn.
Despite poor visibility, a second landing attempt was made.
Baramati has a table top runway, which leaves almost no margin for error.
At an altitude of around 100 feet, the aircraft reportedly lost balance and stability.
The plane hit the ground near the edge of the runway, falling short of a safe landing.
The impact triggered a massive explosion followed by intense fire.
Due to the severity of the crash and fire, rescue operations were extremely difficult.
Investigation Ongoing
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an investigation into the incident. The exact cause will be confirmed only after the official report is released.
Until then, these details remain part of preliminary findings and assessments based on available information.
