The Union Budget for FY 2026–27 brings some encouraging news for Andhra Pradesh. The allocations and policy announcements show a clear attempt to balance development across the three regions of the state: Uttarandhra, Coastal Andhra, and Rayalaseema, instead of concentrating growth in only one region. This approach is important for a state with diverse economic and geographic needs.
For Uttarandhra, the budget focuses on future-ready industries and tourism. A tax holiday for data centres is a major step, as it can attract large investments, create skilled jobs, and position the region as a digital hub.
Tourism development in Araku Valley, along with mineral exploration, aims to generate local employment while using the region’s natural strengths. The inclusion of Uttarandhra in the Purvodaya – East Coast Industrial Corridor further improves connectivity and industrial potential, helping the region link with national and global markets.
In Coastal Andhra, the budget supports traditional strengths like fisheries while also investing in modern infrastructure. Duty-free access and export incentives for fisheries will directly benefit fishermen, aquaculture farmers, and exporters. This can increase incomes and improve access to international markets. The announcement of a High Speed Rail Corridor is another key highlight, as it will improve mobility, reduce travel time, and boost trade, tourism, and urban development along the coast.
Rayalaseema, a region that has long needed focused support, receives significant attention. The proposed Rare Earth Corridor can place the region on the strategic minerals map, which is important for electronics and clean energy industries. A High Speed Rail corridor will improve regional connectivity, while the Electronic Components Manufacturing Scheme can attract industries and generate employment. In addition, SASCI funds for irrigation address one of Rayalaseema’s biggest challenges i.e water scarcity that supports agriculture and rural livelihoods.
Overall, the FY 2026–27 budget for AP appears balanced and forward-looking. By combining infrastructure, industry, agriculture, and technology, it lays the foundation for inclusive and long-term growth across all regions of the state.
