On one hand, Chandrababu, Pawan Kalyan, and the Andhra Pradesh BJP chief have been fostering unity within the NDA alliance in Andhra Pradesh. On the other hand, we are witnessing occasional incidents where certain leaders associated with the alliance parties are creating disharmony with provocative comments.
On that note, we have the latest statement from Jammalamadugu BJP MLA Adinarayana Reddy, who has made extremely untoward and demeaning remarks.
“The administration in Andhra Pradesh is progressing very ‘Kammaga,’” he said, as the senior BJP leader appeared to target a particular caste. He repeated this comment multiple times while specifically referring to that community.
On top of that, Adinarayana Reddy further pointed out that there is no TDP or Janasena in Andhra Pradesh without the BJP. “The BJP is the main reason why the government was formed in Andhra Pradesh, and everyone must keep that in mind.”
This senior leader himself has had a very eventful political journey. He was initially with the YSR Congress in 2014 and later switched to the TDP after the election. After the setback in 2019, he remained inactive for a while before joining the BJP and winning again in 2024. Moreover, with such vast political experience, better public communication is expected from Adinarayana Reddy, at least keeping the dynamics of the alliance in mind.
While the top leadership is committed to long term coordination and a sustained alliance, such regressive comments targeting a community and crediting one party solely for the alliance’s victory could perhaps be avoided, as a neutral observer candidly suggested.
