Despite being one of the most successful and highest paid heroes in Tamil cinema’s history, Thalapathy Vijay had bigger dreams as he is venturing into politics now. Subsequently, the previous few months have been largely turbulent for him at a personal and professional level.
The earlier Karur stampede incident which killed 41 people at Vijay’s public rally became a huge topic of discussion. This seriously dented his image and took a toll on him personally, as such a vast human devastation was rarely seen in Tamil Nadu politics till then.
Vijay had to even appear in front of the CBI, a couple of times regarding the investigation and this marked, the start of the political warfare. He later extended financial support to the victim families, but the damage was done significantly.
Another fundamental point is that Vijay had the opportunity to form political alliance, either with Congress or BJP, which could have given him more political stability and a safe platform. But he was ambitious enough to fight on his own and made it clear that his TVK will contest solo. This is a naturally bound to bring a lot more added pressure, which is exactly the case now.
This extended even to his farewell film Jana Nayagan, which was supposed to release this Pongal season, but might not see limelight in the near future due to external factors.
And adding to the misery now, Vijay is facing a personal turmoil as his wife Sangeeta filed for divorce at Chengalpattu Court, saying the actor had been in an extramarital relationship with an actress since 2021.
The timing of this divorce is so very critical that it comes just months before the Tamil Nadu assembly election. This could further take a toll on Vijay personally and also at political level as his opponents could very well target him badly using this point in election time.
Politics are always a tough game to play, and we have seen this in the case of Pawan Kalyan in Andhra Pradesh, who had to endure a lot for five years till 2024 with endless personal trolls and commentary. A similar scenario at a different capacity is unfolding in the case of Thalapathy Vijay now.
Fans are hoping that Vijay would be solid, even in these challenging and tough times as the political warfare hears up further in the future. As the popular saying goes, only the strongest people can endure the toughest battles to taste ultimate glory at the end.
