₹441 Cr Assets Attached By ED In AP Liquor Scam!

Authorities investigating the alleged liquor scam during Jagan’s tenure estimate that irregularities worth more than ₹4,000 crore may have taken place. A Special Investigation Team has been probing the case and has already arrested several individuals. Officials say many more people are still under investigation.

In the latest development, the ED has attached assets worth ₹441 crore after receiving court approval. According to officials, the properties belong to three key accused in the case. They include Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy, Booneti Chanakya, and IRS officer Donthireddy Vasudeva Reddy. Authorities say the assets were allegedly obtained through illegal gains connected to the liquor policy. Some assets belonging to Rajasekhar Reddy had already been attached earlier.

Investigators say the liquor policy was completely changed during the YSRCP government. After private liquor traders’ licenses ended, the state government took control of liquor retail sales. During this period, several popular liquor brands were reportedly pushed aside while lesser known brands were promoted.

Officials suspect that some of these brands were linked to individuals associated with the ruling party at that time. Liquor suppliers were allegedly asked to pay commissions in order to sell their products through government outlets. Reports suggest around 18 to 20 percent commission was collected on each case containing 12 bottles.

Investigators believe the money collected through this system may have been used during the 2024 elections. They also suspect that a portion of the funds may have reached an influential political leader, though the identity of that leader is still under investigation.
