While it is not a crime to be rich and want to be doing Politics, Money is increasingly becoming very crucial for someone to succeed in Politics. It is always a news if some from a humble background manage to get a ticket and win.
We may see that happening only in the smaller parties where there are less chances of winning. On that note, we see who are the top three richest women MLAs in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the latest report from the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), which analyzed self-declared affidavits from legislators across India, the top three richest women legislators in the entire country are all from Andhra Pradesh.
In first place is Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy, the TDP MLA from Kovur constituency. She has declared assets worth a staggering 716.33 crore rupees. The average assets of women representatives in AP are Rs. 74 crores, while Prashanthi Reddy’s assets are many times higher.
Prashanthi Reddy’s husband Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy is a prominent industrialist and politician. He previously served as a Rajya Sabha member and was elected as an MP from the Nellore Parliament constituency in 2024. The couple is actively involved in state and national politics. They are undertaking many service and social programs in their own district.
Coming in second is Reddappagari Madhavi Reddy, another TDP MLA from Kadapa. Her declared assets stand at 388.10 crore rupees.
Telugu Desam Party fielded Reddappagari Madhavi Reddy from the Kadapa Assembly. It is the first time a party fielded a woman for the Kadapa Assembly. Madhavi Reddy pulled off a sensational victory by winning over the then Deputy CM Amjad Basha with a whopping 18860 votes majority.
And in third place is Lokam Naga Madhavi, the Jana Sena Party MLA from Nellimarla. She has assets valued at 291.17 crore rupees.
She is one of the most highly educated MLAs in Andhra Pradesh, holding an MS degree from a US university. Her family runs a software company in the United States. She contested and won the Nellimarla Assembly seat, defeating her nearest rival from YSRCP by a whopping majority of 39,829 votes.
