Politics are supposed to be beyond communal and religious lines, but we often see cases of disregard and disrespect. Now social media users are finding a similar pattern in the case of a recent incident involving YCP public representatives.
Incidentally, certain members of YCP happened to meet union R&B minister Nithin Gadkari. The list of representatives includes MPs Midhun Reddy, Maddali Gurumurthy, MLA Thanuja Rani and former MLA Roja.
However, social media users have found a detrimental point here and this is regarding the disregard of communal harmony within the YCP ranks.
In this picture, people are pointing out that Midhun Reddy and Roja have taken the seats in front of Nithin Gadkari while MP Gurumurthy and MLA Tanuja are seen standing. People are commenting that the higher caste individuals have taken the seat while Gurumurthy and Tanuja, who come from backward segments are standing.
A Twitter user pointed out that this disrespect is particularly blatant, considering that Roja who is not even an MLA is sitting while incumbent MP Gurumurthy and MLA Thanuja who comes from the agency region are standing. This user questioned what authority and upper hand Roja has over the other two representatives. If anything, they have more public approval than Roja, considering the mandate.
The social media talk is that sitting representatives, Gurumurthy and Tanuja could have at least explained public issues to Gadkari as formal representatives of Parliament and Assembly respectively but Roja hogged their spot.
While YCP supporters might rub this away as an involuntary act, the harsh reality is evident in this picture and perhaps better social etiquette could’ve been exercised.
