The Rajya Sabha is one of the highest ranked legislative houses in India and political parties generally prefer to send only reputed and socially refined candidates for this position. But the latest reports are suggesting that a significant portion of the Raja Sabha House has people with criminal cases.
According to the latest report from the audit department, the affidavits submitted by Rajya Sabha MPs has projected a peculiar trends.
Out of the 229, Rajya Sabha MPs Who had submitted their affidavit it is being established that 73 of them have criminal cases filed against them. The total headcount in the Rajya Sabha is 232 and as of now, the affidavits of the other 3 candidates is not yet analysed due to their unavailability.
What is more shocking is that four out of these 229 candidates have a murder recharge file against them.
27 of the total 99 BJP Rajya Sabha MPs have criminal cases against them while 12 of the 28 Congress MPs face criminal charges. All 3 MPs from BRS have these cases and 2 out of 7 MPs from YCP also happen to have the criminal record.
On the other hand, 31 of these total MPs have declared that they are billionaires and this is another interesting statistic.
