Following a meeting in Kyathanapalli, Mancherial district, BRS Party Working President KTR engaged in a casual chat with the media. KTR stated that they would examine the possibility of reverting the BRS back to the TRS.
Incidentally, this statement of KTR has come a few days after his Sister Kavitha saying the name ‘TRS’ has become available and she may even lock it for her party. It appears that BRS Leadership became alert with her statement and started examining the possibilities.
The BRS leadership did address the issue a couple of times but never appeared to be serious in reverting back to TRS. However, they sensed danger if Kavitha gets the name.
KCR committed a big mistake by changing the party name from TRS to BRS. Back then, KCR would harbor dreams about making it big at the national level but lost in the Assembly elections in the state.
The Party lost its Telangana Connection and sentiment associated with the name after the change.
If Kavitha was able to get the name, she will have that sentiment. Also, the name ‘TRS’ can trigger confusion on the EVM Machines and dent BRS’s chances big time.
So, BRS leadership seems to be hellbent about not allowing the name to go to Kavitha. We will have to see if that will become a legal battle between both the sides. Waging a Legal battle on Kavitha will bring new headaches.
It is a big blunder that BRS did not block the name ‘TRS’ already even in case they do not want to go back to the old name.
If BRS is able to roll back its name to TRS, Kavitha may have unintentionally done a huge favor to her father’s party.
