Before becoming the IT minister of Andhra Pradesh in 2024, Lokesh carried out a fundamental role within the TDP ecosystem between 2019-24. He was the one leading the party cadres in the time of crisis and even devised the super successful membership drive which induced health insurance and it turned out to be a game changer.
Now the TDP leadership has promoted Lokesh to the higher ranks and given him more responsibility within the party. He has been announced as the working president of Telugu Desam and will be taking up this big role effective immediately.
Lokesh had already been operating as the national general secretary under the guidance of his father, Chandrababu, who is the national president of TDP. Now Lokesh has been given the position of the working president, which would require complete coordination between the leadership and the working cadres.
Apart from handling the investment portfolio of Andhra Pradesh and interacting with some of the biggest company in the world, Lokesh will now have to look after the party activities as well.
But this is a much transition as Chandrababu helped these two positions in terms of party and administration for more than four decades. So it is naturally turning out to be the responsibility of Lokesh to take some of the burden from his father and lead the track on his own.
The good thing for Lokesh here is that the transition of power has been very smooth as he was immediately approved and acknowledged by the entire TDP leadership and cadres as well. The humble attitude and impeccable work resolute helped him along the way.
But the new position will come with its own set of challenges, and Lokesh will have to be on the top of his game as tackling administrative duties and taking care of party activities isn’t going to be as easy.
