The clock is ticking fast and quick for Iran as the fragile ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump will end on Wednesday midnight. As expected, Trump has once again issued an ultimatum to his opponents in his belligerent style while confusion over the next round of truce talks prevails as Vice President JD Vance is yet to leave for Islamabad.
Speaking to a leading global media house, Trump has categorically denied any plans to extend the ceasefire deadline and warned Iran to either accept the deal or face the consequences. Trump said the United States is dealing with Iran very well and a potential breakthrough is on cards. Yet he offered Iran a stark choice: seize the moment or face consequences.
Trump further threatened that Iran should face bombing as strong military action is inevitable once the ceasefire ends. Though he claimed that the US delegation is on the way to engage in negotiations, Iran has not confirmed the same and refuse to join the talks if Trump continues to pass open threats.
Trump accused Iran of repeatedly violating the ceasefire and continuing its attacks. He also confirmed that the blockade of Strait of Hormuz will not be withdrawn until Tehran agrees to all conditions in toto and ends the war.
In response, Iran’s chief negotiator and Parliamentary speaker Mohammed Baghar Qualibaf said they will reveal new plans on the battlefield if the US tries to pressurize on the terms and conditions in the deal.
Not just the countries at war, but the entire world is waiting for the diplomatic tensions to ease off and the escalation to end immediately due to the soaring oil prices and shortage of energy prices.
Any resumption of military action will only make the situation worse and both sides might engage in serious confrontation this time if a mutual understanding is not finalized in the upcoming talks. The next few hours might decide the fate of the war as Pakistan is desperately trying to mediate between the two warring nations.
