Tamil actor Vijay is finding himself in a very peculiar situation now after leading his TVK party to remarkable result in the recent assembly election. TVK is now the single largest party in Tamil Nadu and it is bound to form the government with an alliance as it still needs 10 seats.
On that note, it might be a conventional option for Vijay to go with the NDA alliance, which includes BJP and AIDMK which have more than 50 seats. This would be a very solid alliance with the majority of the members in the assembly.
However, Vijay is reluctant to join the NDA as it is clear that the people of Tamil Nadu have rejected BJP and Vijay will not want to be a part of it either. On the other hand, even AIADMK is reportedly not willing to join with Vijay as this would make them irrelevant in Tamil Nadu politics in the future as they’d lose out on the main party status.
But at the same time, Congress has only five MLAs on their side. They have potentially split up from the DMK alliance and are looking at Vijay, but when it comes to the numbers, five MLAs from Congress is not enough for Vijay to form the government. He will again have to gather the support of other small parties.
Congress has publicly said that Vijay has requested their support to form the government and are looking potentially positive on the same. Rahul Gandhi had a telephonic conversation with Vijay to this effect.
The political scenario in Tamil Nadu is changing every single hour and the suspense will continue till Vijay somehow manages to form an alliance and becomes the chief minister. He is formally invited to form the government by the governor on May 7, and we have to see if this would settle by then.
