IPL is generally regarded as the most entertaining sporting tournament in India and it naturally invites millions of viewers every year with its peak Cricket entertainment.
However, the latest developments are suggesting that the ongoing season of IPL has started to witness decreased viewer participation and this is going to be worrying news for IPL governing body.
Apparently, the view of IPL has dropped by nearly 25% this year, which means that one out of 4 people have dropped from watching the league. This is a pretty significant drop in terms of the humongous reach that IPL generally has.
One of the main reasons that people are finding behind the significant rock in the viewership is the ongoing political stints across India. On one hand, we have the West Bengal politics where BJP is forming the government for the first time.
On the other hand, we have Tamil Nadu politics where Thalapathy Vijay has created history by becoming the chief minister of the state.
With so much information and development happening across India, people are more preoccupied with these political developments, which actually affect their lives than an entertainment source like IPL.
Adding to that, the T20 World Cup was completed just a couple of months ago, and India ended up in the same. So this naturally brought down the anticipation on the IPL which is clearly reflecting in the numbers.
