The Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi is currently in Norway to discuss potential energy sharing and investment opportunities between the two countries.
Modi happened to meet the top representatives of the Norway administration today and this was followed by a briefing to the media.
However, Modi, avoid taking any questions from the Norway media representatives who were present at the event.
Sharing the video of Modi avoiding the media glare and walking away before answering any of their queries, a Norwegian journalist explained the situation.
“Prime minister of India, Narendra Modi, would not take my question, I was not expecting him to.
Norway has the number one spot on the World Press Freedom Index, India is at 157th, competing with Palestine, Emirates & Cuba. It is our job to question the powers we cooperate with.” She posted.
The narrative about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi not taking any questions from international Media has grabbed the attention and this video is now going viral.
Norway is known to have the best journalistic index for any country in the world while India is agonisingly poor in this context. Moreover, Modi frequently faces complaints about reluctance to appear in front of the media.
But as of the incident today, there might have been multiple logistical issues as well, considering the language barrier and also the nature of the event. Whether it was just a showpiece event or a questionnaire program is yet to be established.
