Earlier this week, the chief justice of India created a social commentary when he referred to a section of the unemployed youth in the country as cockroaches. He said this section of youth is unable to secure jobs and they’re starting to act against the societal norms.
This harsh bit of criticism from the chief Justice of India, created a huge public discourse, and it resulted in the inception of a new parody party named the Cockroach Janta Party.
This satirical political movement called the “Cockroach Janta Party” has gone viral after Chief Justice of India Surya Kant allegedly compared some unemployed youth to “cockroaches” during a recent hearing.
The remark triggered backlash online, especially among young Indians facing unemployment and exam-related controversies.
Founded by Abhijeet Dipke, a former AAP social media activist and Boston University student, the cockroach party even released a mock manifesto that includes 50% women’s political reservation, action against fake news, and bans on party-switching MLAs and MPs.
This cockroach party has already gained 9.6 million followers on Instagram, and it should be a matter of time before it crosses the 8.7 million followers of BJP. It is likely to emerge the most followed Indian party (parody) on Instagram in just one week of its launch.
