Earlier this week, YSR Congress ecosystem on social media created a whole narrative based on comment made by journalist K Nageshwar Rao where he said Pawan Kalyan met Amit Shah to try and pressurise him into arresting Jagan.
This was used as a tactic by YCP to show that Pawan Kalyan and the NDA representatives are scared of Jagan and they are looking to get him arrested one way or another. This narrative was extensively carried by the YCP all over.
However, this immediately triggered a strong reaction from Janasena leadership as the likes of Nadendla Manohar demanded Nageshwar Rao to take back his poorly informed comments.
After facing a lot of negative feedback from Janasena, it turns out to be that Nageshwar Rao has indeed taken back his set of comments. He said on live television that he is taking back every single word that he had said about Kalyan meeting Amit Shah to arrest Jagan.
“I am unconditionally, taking back all my words. I was poorly misinformed by my source, and I should have crosschecked it earlier. There is no truth in the speculation that I had made earlier.” He said on live tv debate tonight.
After creating a huge political storm with his unconvincing narrative, Rao was always bound to face slack and he’s gotten the right treatment. His worlds are completely devoid and stand no credibility now.
Credible political analysts are expected to avoid falling into speculative traps, especially in highly sensitive political environments where even a single statement can quickly turn into a widespread narrative. Experts like K. Nageshwar Rao generally hold influence among neutral voters due to their perceived analytical balance and experience in political discourse.
However, when such statements are later withdrawn under pressure, it affects public trust and weakens credibility, regardless of intent. In today’s fast-moving media ecosystem, many common viewers tend to accept such claims at face value, which increases the responsibility on commentators to be extra careful before making assertions.
