Is Vijay’s Government Getting Stronger Day by Day?

Even as DMK leader and former Chief Minister MK Stalin continues to claim that the ruling government led by Joseph Vijay would not survive beyond a couple of years, TVK party seems to be consolidating its position in power with each passing day as more winning MLAs appear to be inclined towards it.

The latest development suggests that three MLAs who won from AIADMK symbol have now reportedly resigned from the Tamil Nadu assembly and evinced interest to join Vijay’s TVK party very soon.

This is another massive setback to Edappadi Palaniswamy led party which has been facing existential crisis after the embarrassing electoral performance and also because majority of its MLAs supported TVK during the crucial floor test.

Though a few of the rebel MLAs return back to Palaniswamy’s fold, some of them are still tending to join TVK. The Three MLAs – Maragatham Kumaravel, Jayakumar and Satyabhama submitted resignations to Tamil Nadu Speaker and met key functionaries of TVK earlier today, which has become a talking point in the political circles.

What is more shocking is that all these MLAs won from some of the strongholds of AIADMK in the recent elections. Interestingly, thet are indeed a part of the rebel faction which went on to support Vijay during the floor test against the wishes of the high command.

With Vijay’s TVK securing the majority after days of drama and finally with the support of small parties including Indian National Congress, the political scenario in Tamil Nadu continues to be volatile with twists and turns expected every now and then.

For now, TVK government seems to be emerging as a strong force with the external support and more MLAs are likely to support it given its rising strength in the assembly.

Meanwhile, opposition parties are accusing Vijay of horse trading to poach MLAs in his favour. The TVK supremo, however, appears to be not paying much attention to counterattack these claims and concentrating on making strong policies and fulfilling the poll promises.
