One of the phenomenal political events in recent decades in South Indian politics is Thalapathy Vijay’s rise to power. He has created history by becoming the chief minister in his very first campaign, and he took several young people along with him to the assembly.
There is this one such inspiring story of a young man who was once an ardent fan of Vijay and he is now promoted to be the cabinet minister in Tamil Nadu.
The discussion now is about the human resources minister of Tamil Nadu S Ramesh. Incidentally, even after Ramesh became an MLA on May 4 and a minister on May 21, his parents have not stopped working.
His father K Srinivasan continues as a temple priest at the famous Shiva Vishnu temple in Maraimalai Nagar, while his mother S. Sumathi commutes daily from Maraimalai Nagar to Mylapore for a cooking job.
Their residential house was reportedly built on a private temple land where the family resides without paying rent. They are continuing their event to this day, even after their son became an MLA and then a cabinet minister.
For decades, my family lived a humble life with limited amenities. We never imagined that one among us would one day take oath as a minister in the state. After I relocated to this house, the monthly rental issues subsided as I don’t pay any rent,” the cabinet minister’s father said.
These are the kinds of remarkable stories that we can see when a common person becomes a high ranking minister. This is the kind of positive impact that a true politician can bring in society, and Vijay needs to be appreciated for the same.
