After AP, Liquor Scam Becomes a Hot Topic in Tamil Nadu

One of the principal point of operations for a chief minister must be to deliver spotless administration during his time in power. However, there are certain lapses in administration that differentiate certain chief ministers from the rest.

For instance, we have the case of YS Jagan from Andhra Pradesh, who is likely to be investigated by the enforcement directorate with regard to the AP liquor scam that scares to several thousands of crores.

It must be noted that there are several liquor scams that have been happening across India and returns out that Andhra registered the biggest such scam in history. If Jagan gets investigated in this case, then he would be the next former CM to face heat after Arvind Kejriwal last year.

In the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu, the situation is turning out to be exact opposite as the new CM Vijay has started to crack down on the liquor operations.

In his very first cabinet meeting, after becoming the CM Vijay pointed out that as much as ₹102 crore is siphoned off each month to the ruling parties from the liquor sales operations in the state.

He added that the TASMAC implementation, which is a government oriented liquor sales operation in Tamil Nadu is being used as a mask to divert liquor money to party funds.

Vijay instructed the authorities to investigate every single rupee that has been diverted till now from the liquor operations to party funds accounts. It is clear that he is cracking down heavily on the liquor scam in Tamil Nadu.

The previous DMK government faced several allegations of misconduct and irregularities when it comes to government operations, and this is one of the main reasons behind their downfall as well. On that note, we have Vijay who is very particular about public funds, and it is good to see him crack down in his first month in the office.
