The highly unfortunate Vizag steel plant accident, which resulted in the deaths of 9 individuals has taken a political turn. This is due to the fact that the YSR Congress leaders have been politicising the equation by extensively blaming the NDA government and its representatives.
On that note, the former CM of AP, Jagan Mohan Reddy arrived in Vizag today to interact with the victims of the Vizag steel plant accident.
After interacting with the victims, Jagan made a set of interesting comments as he said the government must ensure that victims get at least ₹1 crore compensation.
“When industrial accidents happened during our government, we used to give Rs 1 crore compensation packages. I am demanding the current government to repeat the same thing.” Jagan said. This is perhaps a direct reference to the LG polymers accident case where Jagan announced ₹1 crore compensation. He wants the NDA government to repeat this now.
This was followed by another attempt from Jagan to claim credit for stopping the privatisation of Vizag steel plant. He bought out a few pieces of paper evidence to claim his case of stopping the privatisation of the plant during YCP tenure.
It was expected that Jagan would be going particularly hard against the government and CM Chandrababu, but he was rather silent about the same. He kept his speech very brief, and direct without any signs of aggression.
