‘Kapu CM’ – Jagan’s Only Way To Attract Kapu Voters?

It is known to our readers that YSR Congress is targeting the Kapu Vote Bank to unseat TDP and Janasena from Power in Andhra Pradesh in 2029. The Kapu community plays a pivotal and decisive role in Andhra Pradesh politics.

With a vote bank comprising approximately 15 to 18 percent of the state’s electorate, the party they favor invariably comes to power. The trend is clearly evident from the results of the last three elections.

In the 2014 elections following the state’s bifurcation, the Kapu community stood by the TDP. At that time, the people believed that the experienced Chandrababu Naidu is very necessary for the prosperity of the bifurcated state.

Subsequently, in 2019, the Jana Sena Party contested independently, leading to a split in the Kapu vote. With the majority of Kapus leaning towards the YSRCP and compounded by anti-incumbency sentiment against the TDP, YS Jagan secured a massive victory in that election, winning 151 seats.

However, the scenario shifted dramatically by 2024. With the formation of an alliance between the TDP, Janasena, and BJP, the Kapu vote bank consolidated decisively in favor of the alliance.

The YSRCP suffered significant losses in the Godavari districts, Uttarandhra, and the Krishna and Guntur regions where the Kapu community is in decisive position.

Jagan Mohan Reddy believes it is important to distance the community from TDP and Janasena to defeat them. As a result, he is giving a free hand to the community leaders of YSR Congress.

They are entrusted with a task to create a feeling in that community that they are not getting their due in this Government.

They will instigate that the Kapu community is on the losing side even though they played a decisive role in 2024 Victory.

But then, how will this help YSR Congress any way?

Today, there is a Deputy CM from the Kapu Community who is really the Number Two in this Government.

What more will the community get if YSR Congress get if voted to power?

The Kapu leaders of YSR Congress were not even in Top 10 in the last government, forget about being the Top 2.

The only way to impress the Kapu Community is by announcing a Kapu CM. That will be impractical and so, the game Jagan is playing with the Kapu leaders will not yield any result.
