Sharmila Lost Steam After Losing Rajya Sabha Seat?

The kind of political activity that was displayed by YS Jagan’s sister YS Sharmila before the 2024 Andhra Pradesh election was very intense. She was extremely active in the Congress campaign and spoke fiercely against her brother, which played a significant role in his downfall. 

After the election, Sharmila slowed down a bit, but she was occasionally turning active, and that was sufficient enough. But now, nearly 2 years after the election, it appears that Sharmila has nearly shut down her activity. She is no longer stepping out in the public and voicing her opinions and congress party stand except few social media posts.

Incidentally, Sharmila was supposed to be granted the Rajya Sabha position by the Congress party from the Karnataka State allocation last month. There were multiple media reports about the Congress promising her, the Raja Sabha position and her being willing to take the same.

But things did not go as expected for Sharmila as the Congress leadership in Karnataka decided to go with some other individuals. This appears to have had a lasting impact on Sharmila as she is no longer the same politician anymore.

It appears to be that the Rajya Sabha position was a perfect incentive for the Congress to reward the active presence of Sharmila, and once they missed it, Sharmila has also started to take it lethargically. 

But whatever might be the reason this AP Congress president has a face value and a family following, and both of these are crucial for the Congress in AP at this point. Silence is not just going to damage her own reputation, but also the Congress prospect in the state. 

It is natural for politicians to feel disappointed and dejected if they do not get the positions that they were expecting. But for someone who is as experienced as Sharmila, she must be beyond all this and fight her own battle with optimism, it can be said.
