EC Asks Kavitha To Change Party Name!

In what can be termed as a massive setback to Kalvakuntla Kavitha, the Election Commission stated that it had received a large number of complaints regarding the name ‘Telangana Rakshana Sena’ (TRS) and asked for alternative names to be suggested.

The EC wrote a letter to Kavitha to this effect.

Telangana Rakshana Sena responded to the EC’s letter, noting that the Commission had conveyed only two specific objections.

The party questioned how the EC could demand alternative names without disclosing the remaining objections. The Party is contemplating to wage a legal battle over the party name issue if necessary.

This move of the EC has happened after the BRS Party had moved a formal objection regarding Kavitha‘s TRS Party.

BRS formally lodged a complaint objecting to the name. BRS reportedly asked the ECI not to allot the name since it is connected to Telangana Sentiment. Sources say that there were around 700 objections already on TRS name.

TRS had transformed into BRS and lost it connect with Telangana Sentiment. Obviously, Kavitha wants to tap the Telangana Sentiment and also any possible Vote Transfer due to the name confusion.

It is also an emotional connection with the people of Telangana especially as Kavitha is also connected to the Telangana Movement through Telangana Jagruthi.

If the EC cancels the name, we may see Kavitha go after her brother, KTR with vengeance.
