The unfortunate boat accident that happened at the coastal region near Vizag created a lot of heartbreak as it is established that at least six members have been dead in this freakish incident. There is only one survivor who is able to come back safely from this hiatus.
In response to this, government of Andhra Pradesh had already announced a financial compensation of ₹10 lakh per family. However, this was opposed by opposition leader YS Jagan as he demanded staggering ₹1 crore compensation for the victims.
Jagan arrived in Vizag today to meet with the victim family members, and he immediately brought out the narrative that the government must pay at least ₹1 crore compensation.
This was followed by another standard comment from Jagan, as he said he will be returning as the CM of AP in another three years and he would issue this compensation in the first month of duty itself.
There was a bit of political angle in Jagan approach, which is not what is advised during such this sensitive time when six families have lost their family members and paining.
The government was quick to react as cabinet minister Atchannaidi had said the more than 275 fisherman had died during Jagan’s time as the CM and he did not announce a single rupee compensation to any of them but has the audacity to ridicule Rs 10 lakh now.
