Where Is YS Sharmila?

The Congress party has found a strong platform to fire on the NDA government at the central level thanks to the ongoing Delhi students protest. In accordance with this, the Congress party has been staging protests in several parts of the country while using the Jantar Mantar development as the focal point.

For now, the discussion is about Andhra Pradesh Congress situation as the party chief YS Sharmila is clearly missing in the action.

While the neighbouring state of Telangana is witnessing adequate agitation from the Congress party in support of the students protest, Andhra Pradesh is nowhere to be seen. This is largely due to the absence of Sharmila, who happens to AP Congress president.

The sad thing here is that Sharmila is confining herself to social media posts about this protest rather than hitting the ground. While this is sensitive time to stand with the students and also gain political mileage, Sharmila appears not to have any such intention for now.

It is a fact that Sharmila had been away from political action for the last few months after the completion of the 2024 election. But her absence in such a crucial time while the Congress party has significant ground to gain is not going well with the local leadership either.

YS Jagan has called for a protest from the youth wing regarding this topic, but he has diluted it by adding the alleged Andhra Pradesh, DSC allegations angle to this. So this is a naturally bound to mitigate the impact of the alliance as political interests are here.

So this would naturally open the doors for Sharmila to lead a genuine and honest protest in support of the hard-working students.
