Bhogapuram Airport Is Far From Vizag, But People Aren’t Worried!

YSR Congress is trying to take the credit of the Bhogapuram Airport and at the same time is trying to instigate the people of Vishakpatnam saying the Airport has gone far away from the city.

The Bhogapuram Airport is planned with a vision of several decades at the expense of Temporary inconvenience.

It happened with Hyderabad as well when Begumpet Airport was closed and Shamshabad Airport was opened.

There were similar reactions from the people complaining about the distance and last-mile connectivity. But then, RGIA is the best airport in the country and is perfectly accommodating the needs of the growing city.

New airports can not be built in the middle of the city because of the land costs. That is the reason why no city in the country have airports in the center. Moreover, if airports are at the center and the city grows, they can potentially create traffic snarls.

Some people question why both the airports can not be continued. Bhogapuram Airport is constructed and maintained by the Private Parties. The model will not be sustainable if there is another airport at close proximity.

That is the reason why Begumpet Airport was closed permanently after RGIA was opened. Moreover, People do not use Airports as often as Bus Stands.

In all probability, more than 70% of Vizag Population do not use Airport. A very small percentage of the public use it regularly. As the city grows, it extends closer to Bhogapuram.

Amenities like Ring Road and Metro will come and bridge the distance. So, all the fear-mongering about the distance is completely unnecessary for now. People are aware of it and so are not much bothered.
