Prashant Kishor’s Victory – Can Jan Suraaj Be A Force In Future?

Political Strategist Prashant Kishor had become a legislator for the first time in his career. He comfortably won in Bankipur By-election which is a BJP bastion and was vacated after the Saffron Party sent Nithin Nabin to Rajya Sabha after he was made the BJP’s National President.

Many started calling it as a new dawn in Bihar Politics. They say that Politics there going forward will be BJP Vs Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj. And they call it as an end to major political parties like RJD.

But then, Political Analysts may be reading the message wrong.

It is clear that there is clear dissent against the BJP but normally that should benefit the opposition. However, people did not choose the RJD over the BJP; rather, they opted for an alternative that isn’t a major political party.

This can be likened to the election of Jaya Prakash Narayana in Kukatpally, a constituency where the TDP was once a dominant force.

It is not that the people rejected major parties in Kukatpally. They just thought – “He has been trying sincerely, let’s give him a chance; after all, it’s just an MLA seat. What’s the harm?”

Prashant Kishor’s efforts were consistent; despite facing repeated defeats, he never wavered in his commitment, an approach that often pays off eventually, even if delayed.

Prashant Kishor did a Padayatra in Bihar before the Assembly election. For five years, he was completely committed to the cause and worked in Bihar.

His party drew a blank in the Assembly elections. He did not give up and continued to be active in Bihar politics and contested in the by-election.

The election took place at a time when the NEET issue was a burning topic across the core northern belt—UP, Bihar, and Delhi.

The issue stirred emotion among the youth and had a significant impact on the election results. Voting for Opposition at that juncture makes no sense because a by-election within one year of the new government would not change anything.

So, the Public decided to give a chance to Prashant Kishor who is sincere working.

For now, this stands as a unique scenario yielding a unique outcome.

It will be interesting to see Prashant Kishor’s future moves. All eyes on him as the party’s sole elected representative to see how he can contribute to its growth and what kind of influence he can exert.

Once a candidate wins, the public sympathy that existed during their losing streak fades away, people then begin to focus on actual performance and tangible impact.

So, next four years will be crucial for Prashant Kishor.
