Those Who Trolled Gadkari Now Face Legal Threat

The government of India had been very particular about censoring the kind of content that comes upon on the social media platforms.  This is one of the main reasons why Twitter and Instagram are often regulated when it comes to carrying the content regarding national matters.

Now, union minister Nitin Gadkari, who had been facing several trolls and complaints on social media for his proactive approach regarding ethanol blending in petrol has gotten relief from Bombay High Court. 

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday said the posts on social media and online websites against Union minister Nitin Gadkari are completely vile, abusive, obscene and defamatory. The court ordered immediate takedown of all such content and warned action against the individuals who had been sharing such stuff on social media. 

A single bench of Justice Arif Doctor granted interim relief to Gadkari and directed Meta, X Corp and Google LLC to ensure forthwith that the posts are taken down. “These posts, on the face of it, are abusive, vile and obscene,” the court said.

Such posts should not have a place online where they can be accessed by everyone, especially the younger generation, the court added.

It appears that everyone who shared social media posts against Gadkari regarding the ethanol topic are under the legal scrutiny now and the consequences could be pretty strong.
