Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been actively advocating the need for the government to get in touch with the current generation of the youth, particular Gen Z and Gen Alpha.
The Delhi students protest exposed the gap between the senior leadership of the government and the current generation youth of the country. This prompted mode to decide that the government needs to be more active on Instagram, which is the most used social media platform by the youth.
Now Modi has made it a habit to share continuous reels on Instagram on a nightly basis. Almost every other night, Modi has been sharing Instagram reels in an attempt to connect with the younger audience who are very much active on Instagram during this time of the day.
Today Modi took the Instagram initiative to launch a new campaign and this time it is for the handloom sector.
Modi shared a video explaining the importance and cultural significance of handloom sector in India. He further called the youth of the country to pitch their opinions about their favourite handloom products to enhance the industry as a whole.
It is becoming evident that Modi is looking to use Instagram as a platform to connect with the youth and also the rest of the population. It appears that all the narratives that he wishes to put in front of the public will be done through these Instagram reels rather than mainstream media appearances. This is a clever strategy that is being implemented by the Indian PM.
