A claim that ganja was found in a police vehicle in the Darsi area has created a political controversy. YCP and some of its supportive media outlets claimed that the police were transporting ganja. However, Darsi DSP Balamuralikrishna has explained what actually happened.
According to the police, SI officials from Santhanuthalapadu and Mallavaram were travelling in a police vehicle when they noticed a suspicious person with a two wheeler near Dharmavaram. After seeing the police, the person reportedly left a bag on the road and escaped.
Police checked the bag and allegedly found around 2 kg of ganja and a liquor bottle. While chasing the person who escaped, the police vehicle reportedly hit an auto while trying to avoid a bike coming from the opposite direction.
Four people travelling in the auto suffered minor injuries. Police immediately arranged medical help and shifted the injured to hospital. One woman with serious injuries was later shifted to Ongole for better treatment.
The DSP said the police had no connection with the ganja and that the accident happened while they were trying to catch the person who left the bag. Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
