‘You Fool’, ‘You Bull’ – Botsa, Naidu Crossed all the lines

The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council witnessed a heated exchange between Minister Atchannaidu and YCP MLC Botsa Satyanarayana on the first day of the Assembly sessions.

The discussion started over the DSC notification but soon turned into a personal war of words between the two leaders.

Atchannaidu targeted Botsa over the previous YCP government’s handling of DSC. He questioned why a proper notification was not issued when Botsa was the Education Minister. Taking a personal dig at Botsa he said, “Botsa Satyanarayana was a fool (daddhamma) who could not even get a DSC notification issued despite being the Education Minister.”

Botsa hit back strongly and made a personal comment about Atchannaidu’s appearance. He said, “Everyone knows who grew like a bull and who is the fool and who is the bull.” He also criticised the government over issues faced by farmers.

Botsa later objected to the language used by Atchannaidu and demanded that the remarks be withdrawn.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Atchannaidu has faced personal remarks from YCP leaders. Between 2014 and 2019, then YCP firebrand MLA Roja had also made similar comments about him. Her remarks went viral at the time and attracted criticism.

Whatever the political differences may be, leaders from both parties should maintain some decency inside the Assembly and Council. The younger generation is watching them and elected representatives should set a better example through their words and conduct.
