92 Lakh Voters Under Scanner After Telangana SIR

The SIR verification procedure that is being carried out by the election commission of India across the country, has been leading to several unfamiliar developments. A similar scenario has emerged in Telangana where as many as 92 lakh voters are in the scrutiny radar of the election commission.

The latest draft that has been released by the election commission in Telangana, confirmed that 92 lakh voters could be getting notices to prove their authenticity of vote here in this state.

The sheet issued for SIR shows the documents electors may be required to submit where details in the previous SIR electoral roll are unavailable or do not match the database.

The document also lists 11 types of logical discrepancies, including age gaps between family members, differences in parent details, incorrect mapping between rolls, and cases where no document or only Aadhaar is available.

The election commission communicated that the notices will be issued to a total of around 92 lakh people. This includes approximately 60 lakh voters classified as unverified or anomalous voters, while another 32 lakh people have not completed the required mapping corrections.

Those who receive notices will have to respond within the stipulated period and provide one of the 11 identity documents specified by the Election Commission to establish their eligibility.

After completion of the notice and claims-and-objections process, the final electoral roll is scheduled to be released on October 19.
