Pawan Hints At A Different Seat Sharing Strategy This Time

With the local body election schedule announced, Pawan Kalyan is reportedly focusing on getting a fair share of seats for Janasena while maintaining alliance unity with TDP and BJP. He has asked party leaders and cadres to prepare for the polls and assured them that he would handle alliance related discussions.

The key issue for Janasena is now seat allocation. Reports of an 80:15:5 formula among the alliance partners have reportedly reached some Janasena MLAs, who brought the matter to Kalyan’s notice. He clarified that no such proposal had been discussed with him.

Pawan reportedly feels that the situation has changed since the Assembly elections. Janasena’s organisational strength has grown, and the party may now seek a stronger share in local body seats instead of simply following the seat distribution pattern from the Assembly polls.

At the Assembly election stage, Janasena had reportedly sacrificed opportunities in several constituencies to protect alliance unity. The party now appears keen to ensure that its leaders and grassroots workers get adequate opportunities to contest local elections.

Pawan Kalyan’s message that cadres should be ready while he handles the alliance talks has therefore gained significance. It suggests that Janasena intends to negotiate firmly on seat sharing while avoiding any damage to the alliance.

The bigger objective appears to be strengthening Janasena at the grassroots level. Winning more local body seats could give the party a stronger organisational base ahead of future elections, making the seat sharing negotiations with its alliance partners particularly important.
