Seniority And Loyalty Couldn’t Save Konda Surekha

Konda Surekha is one of the firebrand leaders for the Telangana Congress, and it has been this case for a couple of decades now. There were a few disturbance in the middle after the death of YS Rajasekhar Reddy as she briefly travelled with Jagan, and then with BRS but she quickly got back to her home turf of Congress in 2018.

Konda Surekha has the seniority within the Congress ranks, and she is also a crucial leader for the party within the BC community, which has been playing in her favour.

However, the problem with Surekha right from the first day has been with the fact that she had been a very strong mouthed leader. Whenever there was a situation of complication, and it was required to maintain silence or amicable resolution, Surekha had the habit of bursting out and creating a bigger mess.

A similar scenario came up again this year when there were a few differences with the Congress high command and Surekha immediately started her family way of speaking out. However, this time she was far too aggressive as she went against CM Revanth Reddy, Congress disciplinary committee, and also the high command itself.

Subsequently, she reached a point of no return, and this resulted in her getting fired from the Telangana Cabinet position. All the seniority and community backing could not help her this time.

Her past episode involving immature statements about the KTR phone tapping allegations, where she linked a star actress and a reputed Tollywood family, reportedly cost her the respect of many people and followers.

There are times in politics when silent treatment is the best treatment, but Surekha had been completely against this from the opening date. This has now started to have effects on her career as she has been removed from the cabinet and could be facing more disciplinary action.

However, she has categorically confirmed that she would be continuing as an MLA in the Congress party, and we have to see how far this journey will take her.
