It is already known that India is currently hosting the BRICS conclave in New Delhi today and massive arrangements have been completed for the same.
The Summit will bring together leaders of BRICS Members and Partner Countries, along with Outreach Invitees. This year’s theme is Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.
India, a founding member of BRICS, has previously held the chairship in 2012, 2016, and 2021. Now the new conclave pertaining to this summit is being prestigiously held in the presence of some of the biggest global leaders.
Incidentally, there is this one particular observation regarding the ongoing summit as the Modi government has done something very interesting.
The representation of India has been earmarked with Bharat nameplate at the BRICS summit. The nameplate in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the summit read “Bharat” instead of India and that’s telling enough.
This is a part of the broad attempt from the Modi Government at the centre to rebrand India as Bharat and this attempt has been going on for the last few years.
Even the venue of this Summit has been named Bharat Mandapam and this speaks a lot about the kind of narrative that is being set by the government. The transition is happening quickly and assertively enough as well.
