Why Modi, CBN, Revanth and KTR Mourned Payal Mehta

The sudden passing of senior journalist Payal Mehta has left the media and political circles shocked. Payal was only 46 and was working as an Assistant Editor with CNN-News18. Her death has led to tributes from several prominent political leaders across party lines.

PM Narendra Modi remembered Payal as a hardworking journalist who remained closely connected to the ground. He said she brought a deep understanding of national issues to her reporting and also remembered her for the kindness and warmth with which she touched many lives.

Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu also shared a personal tribute. He said Payal was a sincere and dedicated journalist who always went the extra mile for a story. He recalled that she had travelled to Andhra Pradesh several times to report from the ground.

Chandrababu also remembered meeting her in Parliament. He said Payal would make it a point to reach out and share updates whenever they met. He particularly remembered her enthusiasm, commitment to journalism and the warm smile with which she approached everyone.

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy said the loss of a good journalist is a loss to society. He described Payal as an accomplished and successful journalist who still had much more to do and achieve.
Payal had spent more than 15 years in journalism and became a familiar face in the Parliament and national politics beat. She worked with Focus TV, NewsX, Republic TV, ANI and CNN-News18 during her career.

At CNN-News18, she closely covered Parliament, the Union government, political parties and important policy developments. Her work also took her outside Delhi for elections and major political stories.

She remained active as a journalist until just days before her death. Her recent reports covered several important national developments, including the government’s plans related to Formula One, child-safety issues involving Meta and preparations for the BRICS Summit.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh remembered her commitment to the Parliament beat, while Home Minister Amit Shah described her as a thorough professional with a warm personality.
