High Tension @ Hussain Sagar: Ganesh Nimarjan Heats Up!

The government of Telangana has been acting upon the instructions of Telangana High Court with regard to the restriction on Ganesh Nimarjan at the famous Hussain Sagar Lake.

The High Court had earlier instructed that any kind of Ganesh Nimarjan must not be done at the Hussain Sagar Lake in view of natural reasons. It was made very clear that the plaster of Paris that was used for Ganesh Idol preparation is harmful to the stagnant water here.

But there has been constant pressure on this as there is a long history of Hussain Sagar being the focal point of Ganesh Nimarjan over the years.

Today, participants of Ganesh Utsava Samiti broke down the barricades put up by the government to stop Nimajjanam in Hussain Sagar. This created high tension atmosphere at the Hussainsagar as Police had to detain members of this Samiti to pacify the situation.

The High Court had earlier directed the government to ensure that no idol immersion can happen at Tank Bund for the above mentioned reasons. The police department had been ensuring the same, but unrest broke out when members of Ganesh Samiti acted out today.
