Yanamala Joins Jana Sena, What Next In Tuni?

Senior Tuni politician Yanamala Krishnudu has joined the Jana Sena Party in a significant political development in Andhra Pradesh. He joined the party in the presence of Jana Sena chief and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan on Friday. Krishnudu is the younger brother of senior TDP leader and former minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and has been a prominent political figure in Tuni for several decades.

Krishnudu has a long political association with the Tuni constituency. He worked closely with his elder brother Ramakrishnudu for several years and played an important role in Tuni politics. He also contested the Tuni Assembly seat on a TDP ticket in 2014 and 2019, though he lost both elections. Ramakrishnudu, meanwhile, represented Tuni for six consecutive terms before moving to the Legislative Council and later serving as Finance Minister in the Chandrababu Naidu government.

Krishnudu’s political journey took a major turn ahead of the 2024 elections when he quit the TDP and joined YSRCP in the presence of then Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. His exit from the TDP came after differences over the political future of Tuni and the decision to promote Ramakrishnudu’s daughter Yanamala Divya in the constituency.

Now, after his stint with YSRCP, Krishnudu has moved to Jana Sena. His latest move is particularly notable because Jana Sena is part of the ruling alliance with TDP and BJP in Andhra Pradesh. With Krishnudu having a long political network in Tuni, his entry adds another interesting dimension to the constituency’s politics.

Krishnudu was among several YSRCP leaders who joined Jana Sena along with senior Hindupur leader Naveen Nischal. Former Eluru DCCB chairman PVLN Narasimha Raju, YSRCP observers and leaders from Kandukur, Sarvepalli and Kanigiri, along with leaders from Tuni, Tanuku, Srikalahasti, Mummidivaram and Narasaraopet, also joined the party.

Pawan Kalyan welcomed the new entrants into Jana Sena and asked them to take the party’s ideology to the people and work together to strengthen the organisation. For Tuni, however, Krishnudu’s entry is likely to attract particular attention given his long political history in the constituency and his association with the Yanamala family.
