The University of Colorado Denver is set to establish a degree granting campus in Hyderabad, marking a major development in India’s higher education sector.
CU Denver has received a Letter of Intent from the UGC to establish its India campus. It will become the first public American university to set up a campus in India.
The university is planning to welcome its first batch of students in August 2027, subject to the completion of the required approvals and regulatory process.
Revanth Reddy’s government has been actively pushing Hyderabad as a global education hub. The CM has been engaging with international universities and seeking their campuses in Telangana. He has also said that efforts are underway to bring institutions such as MIT and Purdue to Hyderabad, making the CU Denver development part of the state’s larger global education push.
The Hyderabad campus will initially offer programmes in areas including business, computing, engineering and analytics, with a focus on practical learning and industry requirements.
The move is also a major boost for Hyderabad’s growing education ecosystem, as the city continues to attract global universities and strengthen its position as an international education hub.
