The talks between the Centre and farmers have once again failed over the controversial farm bills. This is for the seventh time that the Centre and farmers held talks yet they did not come to a logical conclusion.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar spoke to the media after the talks with farmers and added that they wanted farmer unions to discuss three laws clause-wise. We could not reach any solution as farmers’ union remained adamant on the repeal of the laws and the minister expressed hope that they would come to a meaningful conclusion very soon.
On the contrary farmers said that there is no point in discussing the laws because we want a complete withdrawal of the laws. The Centre intends to take us towards amendments but we will not accept amendments in the laws.
The next meeting would be held on January 8th.
