Regional parties in Telugu states — TDP, TRS and YCP– are among the richest in the country. The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) released the list of top 10 wealthy regional parties in the nation for 2018-19.
The TDP stood fourth with Rs 193 crore assets, TRS in the sixth place with Rs 188 crore, YCP in the eighth place with Rs 93 crore.
Samajwadi Party is the richest of all the parties owning property worth Rs 572 crore while Naveen Patnaik-led BJD stands second with Rs 232 crore. Tamil Naidu’s AIADMK stood in the third place with Rs 206 crore assets.
The TDP has fixed deposits worth Rs 115 crore, TRS Rs 152 crore and YCP has FDs of Rs 79 crore.
However, the TDP and JDS declared that they have liabilities of Rs 18 crore each for the financial year of 2018-19.
BJP declared assets amounting to a staggering Rs 2,904.18 crore, which is 54 per cent of the property declared by the national parties. The Congress said it has assets worth Rs 928.24 crore.
