With many of the people already hesitating to get vaccinated due to side effects and reactions, the incident in UP shocked all. Three elderly women were given anti-rabies shots instead of the Covid vaccine.
The women Saroj (70), Anarkali (72), and Satyawati (60) fell moderately ill after their vaccination at a Community Health Centre in Shamli. The women went to get vaccinated against Covid-19 but by mistake, they visited OPD instead of the first-floor vaccination center. The pharmacist there was leaving on some other work and asked a private person to give them anti-rabies shots. That person administered the shots without any questions and no checks.
One of the women said she was sure she was given the anti-rabies vaccine, as she felt dizzy after reaching home and above that, she was not asked for her Aadhaar card at the center.
Amid the huge spike in the number of coronavirus cases each day in the country, the blunders due to sheer negligence in vaccinations are more worrying.
