The shortage of vaccine supply is hurting many states. Telugu states too have witnessed a crunch of vaccine and so CMs of Andhra and Telangana have written to the Centre to provide vaccine with immediate effect. Considering their request, Centre has reportedly sent adequate vaccine doses to both the Telugu states.
As per the latest information, Andhra Pradesh received two lakh doses of Covishield vaccine. In a special flight these vaccines were transported from Pune to Gannavaram airport. After taking over the vaccines, the AP health department has disbursed them to districts where people have enrolled for the vaccine shot. Based on the token system, vaccine is being administered.
And Telangana has received six lakh doses. Earlier on Sunday, the government called off the vaccination drive and in the last two days, many centres across Hyderabad and district centres reported ‘No Stock’ boards. Finally the Telangana health department relieved with six lakh doses reaching Hyderabad this morning. Now the health department is working on the plans to transport them to districts.
Meanwhile India has administered covid-19 vaccine to just over 13 crore people as of April 20th.
