There is a debate going on the issue of Lord Hanuman’s birthplace for quite some time now. The Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam board claims Anjanadri hill located in Tirupati is the birthplace of Hanuman. On the flip side, the government of Karnataka claimed Hampi as the place where Hanuman was born. Now, the former argued that it has enough proofs to prove Tirumala as the birthplace of Hanuman.
Speaking in a press meet, National Sanskrit University’s VC Acharya Muralidhara Sharma said that a team of pandits has been working on collecting proofs for the last four months, to claim Anjanadri hill as the birthplace of Hanuman. They have collected enough mythological, geographical, and historical evidence that proves Anjanadri as the birthplace of Hanuman.
Apparently, Anjana Devi performed tapas on this hill and as a result, Hanuman was born. He spent his childhood on the same hill. The hill got the Anjanadri because Hanuman was born here. It seems that Hanuman also served Lord Venkateshwara in Tirumala. He also tried to catch the sun from this very place. Sharma added that 13-14 Puranas claim Anjanadri Hill as the birthplace of Hanuman. He stated that the claim made by the temple board of Hampi’s Anjanadri Hill is baseless.
