The AP government’s counsel had claimed in the High Court on Friday that the four colours which the G.O. 623 had allowed to be painted on the Village Panchayat buildings and other government offices are a symbol of agriculture and allied sectors. But giving a jolt to the Jagan sarkar, a divisional bench of the High Court has cancelled the controversial G.O.
CM YS Jagan in April had issued the G.O., allowing the colouring of the government property with the YSRCP flag colours and the additional brown colour. However, the bench reminded the counsel that even the Supreme Court had supported the High Court’s previous order which prohibited the ruling party flag colours to be used to paint any government property.
The bench has taken up the matter suo motu and booked the Chief Secretary, Panchayat Raj Principal Secretary and Panchayat Secretary for contempt of court by not honouring the court’s earlier order of replacing the colours. The bench has ordered the above three officials to appear before the court if they fail to ensure that the colours are replaced by the next hearing on May 28th.
