Covid-19: India’s Death Tally Goes Past 2.5 Lakh mark

India has achieved an unwanted feat in the global pandemic and it is regarding the death tally. The total death count in the country has surpassed the 2.5 lakh mark and currently the death tally stands at 2,50,025. India is the third country with over 2.5 lakh deaths mark after the US and Brazil.

In the last 24 hours, 3876 people have died of the virus while 3,29,942 new infections have been reporting. For the first time Karnataka has gone past Maharashtra on daily cases. Karnataka state reported 39,305 new infections while Maha posted 37,236 and Mumbai city posted 1794 cases. West Bengal, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh states recorded 19,445, 11,592 and 9715 cases respectively.

The active cases in the country stand at 37,15,221 and total recoveries are 1,90,27,304.

The Union Health ministry claims that 17,26,33,761 people have received the vaccine. 13,54,64,294 have taken the first dose while 3,71,69,467 people got the second jab.
